The Stett Harrison Library houses a collection of current and classic resources of over 12,000 volumes and more than 700 AV titles. Magazines in English, French and Spanish, and three daily papers in Italian and English are available. The collection includes some French, Italian and Spanish resources and fiction.

The Stett Harrison Library serves all middle and high school students, faculty and staff, and the larger school community. Student and faculty patrons are encouraged to use the library and its resources. Parents are always welcome.

Staffed by a professional librarian and a qualified assistant, it is well-equipped to provide instruction in research skills, literacy, and the use of technology.

The Library Media Center has nine computers with internet access. Thirty students may be accommodated for study and reading seated at tables and in comfortable chairs. Classes are often held in the Media Center and students use the facility for research, assignments and other school related projects. Printing is free and is available both in color and in black and white. Photocopies run 10 cents a page. The library staff is committed to instructing and guiding student research by recommending reliable online resources such as the EBSCO.

The Library Classroom is used for scheduled classes, for meetings and as a study area. Classes are welcome to use both the Media Center and the Classroom. Teachers must book the facility in advance and advise the librarians of their requirements for the session. Please contact the librarians by email (apopp@aosr.org or mrahm@aosr.org) or ring 314.

Library Loans

Students may check out up to three books at a time for a period of two weeks, and then renew them. Report cards will be held if books are not returned. Audio-visual materials and reference volumes may be checked out by faculty members only.

Equipment

The Library Classroom is equipped with a TV, DVD player, and digital projector. These items can be used on premise and must be reserved in advance.

Digital cameras, projectors and CD players are available for one-day check out to Faculty only.

General Rules

  • Eating, drinking, cell phones, and ipods are not allowed in the Library
  • Loud talking and socializing disturb the environment of quiet reading and study
  • Media Center computers are to be used only for school related activities. No e-mailing is allowed in the library.
