Booster Bar

The Booster Bar is an AOSR tradition that started as a concession stand for sports events, particularly basketball games. At the stand, freshly grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, candy and soft drinks are sold. The Booster Bar has evolved from a sports concession stand into a weekly fundraiser for any group in the school that wants to raise some cash.

Here's how it works. If, for example, a team needed to earn some money for uniforms, they could sign-up to “sponsor” a Booster Bar. On the Friday of their Booster Bar, volunteers from the team would help set up the Booster Bar after school, they (and, often, their parents) would work behind the table and help clean up afterward. After subtracting the costs, the profits would be given to the team for the purchase of new uniforms.

PTO has a Booster Bar committee, which assists the sponsor group in every facet of the Booster Bar. Any student group at AOSR can sign up for a Booster Bar which are held on most Fridays when school is in session.

A sponsoring group can expect to make E200 to E400 - even more if a bake sale is held in conjunction with the Booster bar. An added benefit is that kids learn to work together on a project and have a lot of fun. It's a great way to end the school week and enjoy some good food!

The Booster Bar is always looking for new volunteers: people to shop, keep track of the inventory, order meat and buns, work with the Sponsor groups and grill. It's a fun way to serve our school and meet people. Just sign up through the PTO.
